A Highfield man, Tinotenda Chibwe, has been arrested and charged with aggravated indecent assault following allegations of sexual abuse against a 17-year-old boy from GlenNorah.
The incident came to light after the victim's parents discovered sexually suggestive messages between Chibwe and their son on WhatsApp. Chibwe, who is a member of a WhatsApp group for gays with over 1,000 participants, had befriended the victim online and eventually convinced him to meet in person.
The two met at Machipisa shopping center in Highfields, where Chibwe lured the victim to his residence. After consuming drinks, Chibwe initiated sexual contact with the victim, despite the victim's initial refusal.
The victim's parents became aware of the abuse after discovering the sexually suggestive messages. They reported the incident to the police, leading to Chibwe's arrest.
Chibwe appeared before Harare magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa, who remanded him in custody.
