The Zimbabwe senior women’s football team, the Mighty Warriors, departed for South Africa on Tuesday to compete in the 2024 COSAFA Cup. The team is eager to avenge their semi-final defeat to Mozambique in last year's edition.

Coach Sithethelelwe "Kwinji 15" Sibanda expressed optimism about the team's chances, highlighting the motivation among the players to redeem themselves. The inclusion of foreign-based players like goalkeeper Cynthia Shonga adds strength to the Mighty Warriors squad.

The team's goal is to reach the final and compete for the championship. While the tournament also serves as an opportunity to give young players exposure, Kwinji 15 is focused on preparing for next year's AFCON Qualifiers.

Zimbabwe's journey in the COSAFA Cup will begin with a crucial match against Mozambique. A victory in this encounter will be essential for their progress in the tournament.
