Two men from Domboshava, Luckmore Tasaruka, 26, and Tatenda Saidi, 30, are in court for allegedly stealing a police officer's car.

The duo appeared before magistrate Fadzai Mtombeni at the Harare Magistrates' Courts, charged with robbery.

They were denied bail and are set to apply for bail on October 30.

According to the prosecution, on July 26, 2023, around 6:30 p.m., the accused hired the police officer, who was driving a Toyota Raum, to take them to Mhondoro. Along the way, they stopped at the Mhondoro turnoff under the pretense of needing to relieve themselves.

They then attacked the officer, using a rope to tie his neck and gagged him with a cloth.

The accused took control of the car, searched the officer, and stole his wallet, which contained US$68, his driver's license, and national identity card.

They also made off with the officer's police uniform and later abandoned him along the Harare-Bulawayo road.
