Tragedy strikes on Harare-Bulawayo road

…7 Dead, 6 injured in fatal collision

A devastating accident occurred on Thursday morning at 5:10 a.m. along the Harare-Bulawayo road, resulting in the loss of seven lives and leaving six others injured . The collision involved a Toyota Hiace kombi and a fuel tanker at the Kuwadzana 7 turn-off, near the intersection of First Street and Bulawayo Road.

According to Commissioner Paul Nyathi, the Zimbabwe Republic Police spokesperson, the kombi had turned right into Bulawayo Road, directly into the path of the oncoming fuel tanker . The fuel tanker had no passengers on board, but the kombi had an unspecified number of passengers.

The bodies of the victims were transported to Sally Mugabe Hospital mortuary for post-mortem examination, while the injured were admitted to the same hospital for treatment . Initially, five fatalities were reported, but the death toll later rose to seven.

The police are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident to determine the cause . Commissioner Nyathi emphasized that the identities of the deceased have not been confirmed by their next of kin.
