The Zimbabwe Republic Police has confirmed a fatal road traffic accident that claimed two lives and left three others injured along the Chivhu–Nyazura Road on Friday, 23 August 2025.
The accident occurred at the 73-kilometre peg when an Isuzu lorry carrying six passengers collided head-on with a Toyota Axio that had three occupants on board.
Two people died on the spot, while three others sustained injuries in the crash.
Police said the bodies of the deceased were taken to Murambinda Mission Hospital mortuary for postmortem, while the injured were admitted to the same hospital for treatment.
Authorities have urged motorists to exercise extreme caution on the country’s highways, citing fatigue, speeding, and failure to observe road regulations as common causes of such tragedies.
ZRP investigations into the circumstances surrounding the collision are underway.
