Zimbabwe head coach Michael Nees says the Warriors will take nothing for granted in their all-important TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 qualifier against Kenya this Friday.
Heading into the match, Zimbabwe find themselves in a favourable position in second place in Group J, just two points behind leaders Cameroon and four points ahead of their opponents, although a win over Kenya would all but seal their qualification for Morocco next year.
Despite their advantageous position, Nees says his side are fully focused on the task at hand and will leave nothing to chance at the Peter Mokaba Stadium.
“We're looking forward to the match and like in every camp, we have to bring all the players together. We have three groups and the last group will arrived on Tuesday morning"
“We are happy about that because we are we are in a good position. We want to have our fate in our own hands and the better the position the better [for us]. So, we achieved that, but that doesn't mean that we should get complacent. We have to do the final step. It is possible and the players showed good spirits in the first two camps, and I'm sure we will be able to do that now to achieve that.
Nees has welcomed the addition of striker Tymon Machope to the squad for the crunch encounter.
“He's a good player, he's a little bit of different type, he's very tall, our strikers are not tall, apart from Douglas. I saw him in the semifinal, and he convinced me that he's in good shape where he scored a very nice overhead kick. He's a different type of player and we must see in training how he can fit into the team, but I'm sure he can bring another element which we didn't have before.
