An Eswatini Member of Parliament has praised Zimbabwean MP Innocent Benza, calling him an inspirational leader who leads by example.
Nathi Nsizwa Hlophe, the head of the Eswatini Parliament’s Committee on Sport, Culture and Youth Affairs, said this after watching Benza play a football match at Baobab Stadium on Saturday. Even though Benza's team, Herentals, lost 1-0 to Ngezi Platinum Stars, Hlophe was highly impressed by the politician's attitude.
“I was inspired by the way he leads,” said Hlophe. “For him to play with these young lads, despite his position in society, is humility at its best. He reduced himself to be just an ordinary player.”
Hlophe also praised Benza for staying fit and playing top-level football at his age.
“With his age, playing at this level, I think we should applaud him,” Hlophe added.

“Age is nothing but a number. As long as you remain disciplined, look after your health and stay committed, you can continue to participate and inspire others regardless of your age.”
Benza added that he was happy to see the sports committees of Zimbabwe and Eswatini working closely together to build friendship between the two countries.
“We are delighted by the cordial relations that exist between our two parliamentary committees,” Benza said. “Sport is a powerful tool for bringing people together, allowing us to exchange ideas, strengthen cooperation and build lasting friendships. We look forward to deepening this partnership for the benefit of our two countries.”
