Former Deputy Finance Minister, Terrence Mukupe, has suffered a significant legal setback after the Supreme Court dismissed his appeal against a conviction and sentence for smuggling fuel.

Mukupe was convicted by the High Court in November 2023 and sentenced to three years imprisonment and a fine of US$12,780. The court found him guilty of smuggling 200,000 liters of diesel and 50,000 liters of petrol from South Africa to Zimbabwe without paying duty.
