A visit to a healer, presumably to boost his chances of escaping arrest by a man -who is allegedly a member of gang linked to several robberies- turned out to be an unlucky venture when the police picked him up from there.

“Munyaradzi Gadzikwa was arrested on 12th November 2024 while allegedly receiving spiritual deliverance from a traditional healer at a house in Glenview 1, Harare,” Police announced in a press statement.

Police said Gadzikwa, 36, Sydney Chemhere alias Seedza, 42 and Tinotenda Mabhandi, alias Timbobo, 38 are the latest to be arrested in connection to an armed robbery on October 28, 2024 at Dinwoo Investments, Workington, Harare where US$ 30 000 cash was stolen.

Chemhere was picked up from his hiding place in Glenview 7 and police frecovered eight Emex explosives and three fuse cables.

Tinotenda Mabhande was arrested at Makomva Shops, Glenview, Harare.

Already in custody are Spencer Mapfumo, 42, Patrick Chibaba alias Mupositori, 38, Tarwirei Madzudzu alias Mukanya, 50, Paddington Meki, 44 and Washington Marunze, 36.

Police said the last three suspects are further clearing five cases of robbery which occurred between July 31 and October 3 in Harare

Christians may choose to see signs of divine justice in the arrest of the suspects as they have been linked to an armed robbery on July 31 at a church in Budiriro 5B where US$ 2 599 cash, a cellphone and three passports were stolen.

The other reported robbery occurred on August 18 at a Ruwa house where US$2 300 cash was stolen.

Another robbery being attributed to the gang was targeted at private security company in Avondale in October where USD 80.00 cash, a laptop, four 303 rifles, a 0.22 rifle, three revolvers and several plastic bags containing live ammunition were stolen.

Police said that informants played an important role in the arrests.

“The Zimbabwe Republic Police applauds the public for providing valuable information which led to the arrest of the suspects. The public is urged to continue forwarding information regarding criminal activities to the Police.”
