A husband has taken his wife to court, accusing her of threatening to poison his food as well as hounding him at work.
Peter Mugurure hauled Moiler Kanje to the Harare Civil Court, suing her for being hostile and intending to kill him.
“She insults me in front people and threatens to poison me. She is my wife and we live together,” he said.
Mugurure enlightened the court that his wife was also in the habit of coming to his workplace to harass him.
Kanje denied the allegations and said her husband was succumbing to influence from his peers.
“I oppose, l have never insulted him. l follow him to his work place because l will be in need of food. Ndinenge ndisingazive kuti anenge achitondigayira horror (I did not know that he will be thinking terrible things about me).
“Ane kakufurirwa nevanhu uyu (he has a tendency of being influenced), he is my husband. He ran away and left me without food. He is pretending to be the wiser one coming here to report me,” she said.
Mugurure said the reason why he was no longer leaving money at home was because of his wife’s behaviour.
“l leave money for food. She doesn't listen to me. I refute what she is saying. This is the only month l have not left money because she doesn’t listen,” he said.
Magistrate Tamara Chibindi granted the peace order in favour of Mugurure, advising Kanje to approach the maintenance court for child support.
