The Zimbabwe football fraternity will come together on December 28 to honour its legends in an event that promises to blend sport and entertainment.

The event, set to take place at the historic Gwanzura Stadium, will feature a football tournament between some of the country’s most celebrated teams, as well as a musical performance by Ndunge Yut to mark his fifth anniversary in the music industry.

The tournament will bring together legends from Caps United, Dynamos, Black Rhinos, and Black Aces, teams that have played an integral role in shaping Zimbabwe’s football history. Dynamos legends will face their Caps United counterparts, while Black Rhinos legends will battle it out with Black Aces legends in the semi-final clashes.

The event is not just about the matches but also serves as a platform to recognize the contributions of football legends who, according to Vincent Chaonza, former Dynamos vice-chairman, have often been overlooked.

“Our football legends are not recognised or shown enough respect. Some of them are even forced to pay at the gate to attend Premier League games, which is heartbreaking. Many have stopped attending matches altogether,” lamented Chaonza, emphasizing the need to celebrate those who paved the way for the sport in Zimbabwe.

Following the football action, Ndunge Yut, a celebrated artist, will lead a live musical performance alongside other artists. The musician expressed his gratitude for being part of the program, highlighting the importance of giving legends the respect they deserve.

“I’m so grateful to be regarded as a good leader by my followers, and I would like to thank the sponsors and the football legends for being part of this program. It’s not wise to neglect or fail to recognize the contributions of our legends,” Ndunge Yut said.

The gate pass for the event is set at an affordable US$2, ensuring accessibility for fans who wish to witness this historic occasion.
