In a bid to revamp their fortunes, Premier Soccer League side FC Platinum has appointed former Caps United coach Darlington Dodo as the new first assistant coach to Norman Mapeza.

The move comes after a barren season, which saw the four-time PSL champions fail to secure any silverware. Influential figures within the club have opted to bring in additional expertise to support Mapeza, who had been working with only Daniel Vherumu as his assistant.

Dodo, a Caf A holder, boasts an impressive coaching pedigree, having won the league with Gunners in the past. His most recent stint was as an assistant coach at GreenFuel, where he worked under Rodwell Dhlakama.

FC Platinum spokesperson Chido Chizondo confirmed Dodo's appointment, stating, "Yes, I can confirm that Darlington Dodo is joining as Mapeza's first assistant."

The Zvishavane-based club is eager to turn around their luck, having walked away empty-handed from the 2023 and 2024 seasons. They finished behind Ngezi Platinum Stars and Simba Bhora FC in the last two seasons.

In other news, FC Platinum has parted ways with Rainsome Pavari, who is set to join Manica Diamonds. Donald Teguru, who spent last season on the sidelines due to injury, has also been released. Panashe Mutimbanyoka has left the club and is reportedly joining Scotland FC
