Two men, Norest Sasa and Clive Makofa, appeared before Harare Magistrate Tilda Mazhande on charges related to a series of armed robberies targeting Mukuru money transfer booths.

The duo, remanded in custody until January 30, joins four other suspects—Joseph Bilson Makoni ,30, Tatenda Madhirize (l,28, Ggies Siziba, and Evans Mabvakure ,47,—already on remand for similar crimes.

The State, represented by prosecutor Anesu Chirenje, alleges the gang carried out seven armed robberies and was found in unlawful possession of explosives.

Another alleged accomplice, Clever Chada, appeared in court earlier, admitting to two counts of robbery and possession of explosives without a permit. However, Chada denied five additional robbery charges and was remanded in custody, with a plea court hearing set for January 30.

According to the State, the gang orchestrated several heists across Harare and surrounding areas, terrorizing victims with firearms and stealing substantial sums.

On December 16, 2024, the group reportedly raided a Mukuru booth at Glen View 2 Shopping Centre, escaping with US$1,839, R2,350, and a client’s wallet containing US$950.

Four days later, they allegedly struck in Mabvuku, taking US$1,374 and R22,000. On January 3, 2025, they targeted a booth in Manyame, stealing US$5,530, R18,700, and an additional US$680 from an Ecocash booth.

Their most recent heist occurred on January 11 in Beatrice, where they allegedly stole US$3,500 and mobile phones valued at US$4,050.

Despite the arrests, none of the stolen money has been recovered.
