John Murwira in Chinhoyi
A 57-year-old woman in Alaska, Chinhoyi, endured a harrowing ordeal on January 23, 2025, when five armed robbers broke into her home and threatened her life before stealing cash, cellphones, and car keys.
The suspects, all wearing balaclavas, entered the house through an unlocked kitchen door at around 7:00 p.m. and proceeded to the victim’s bedroom.
One of them pointed a small firearm at her face and demanded cash. Terrified, the woman handed over $1,000 from her handbag.
The robbers demanded more money, threatening the woman with graphic violence.
One suspect drew out a knife and threatening to slice the woman’s stomach open. Another upped the threats by pressing a hammer to her forehead.
Terrified, the woman retrieved an additional $1,300 stashed in a dressing table drawer and handed it over.
The robbers also took three mobile handsets and the keys to a Honda Fit vehicle before locking the victim and her family members inside the house and fleeing the scene.
Police in Chinhoyi Rural are appealing to the public for information that may lead to the arrest of the suspects and the recovery of the stolen property.
Police also urged individuals and businesses to up their security and avoid keeping large sums of money in their possession.
