Rising author Geraldine Mathela last week officially launched her first book Slipping my Way to the Top at the Mustard Seed Restaurant in Highlands, Harare.

The book is a comprehensive and insightful read on women entrepreneurs and the realities they still face in launching their ventures.

Mathela says the book is written from the lenses of personal experiences to educate fellow businesswomen on the importance of knowing their worth as female entrepreneurs.

She writes about the obstacles women face when launching, funding, and growing their companies, obstacles that persist due to systems in place.

“I wrote the book to put my experience on paper, to show what to expect on the way to the top, to help other budding entrepreneurs not to make the same mistake I did.

“The book is about the entrepreneurship journey, addressing issues, including how some men in power expect sexual favours from young women to give them business,” she said.

Mathela says it is important for women to work hard without depending on favours from men.

She advises other aspiring authors to work towards their dreams and share their gifts.

“Start to write the first word, it will become a sentence, then a paragraph then a chapter. Before you know it, you have a whole book,” Mathela said.

Mathela is working on another book titled Kiss and Tale, which is expected to be officially launched in February 2023.
