Perv charged with groping minor granted ZWL$25 000 bail

A Dzivarasekwa man who was in court for fondling juvenile's breasts has been remanded out of custody on ZWL$25 000 bail.

Forget Mutemangano, 30, appeared at the Harare Magistrates Court charged with indecent assault, contravening Section 67 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter 9:23.

The court heard that on November 27, 2022, at Corner Chinokoro and Takawira in Dzivarasekwa 2 in Harare, Mutemangano unlawfully and with indecent intent fondled the 15 year old complainant’s breast.

Mutemangano had blocked the way for the teen as she approached the spot where he was standing.

When she told him that she wanted to pass, Mutemangano instead of stepping aside, instead took her proximity as an opportunity to fondle her breasts.

The teen reported the incident to her grandmother who accompanied the minor to make a police report resulting in the arrest of Mutemangano.

Magistrate Dennis Mangosi remanded Mutemangano to December 2 to allow the state time to put all paperwork in place.

Mr Mangosi also ordered Mutemangano not to communicate in any form with the complainant or witnesses and to pay ZWL 25 000 to the clerk of court.

Lawmakers and the public in general are currently trying to figure out why sexual harassment of minors appears to be on the rise with a worrying number of rape and other sexual violations having been reported this year.
