A baby boy, approximately one day old, is admitted at Mpilo Hospital after being found thrown away naked in Lobengula West, Bulawayo.
“..a baby boy (approximately one day old) was found dumped in grass beside a footpath joining New Lobengula and Inkanyezi Primary School Lobengula West, Bulawayo on 27/11/22,” the police said in a statement.
The baby’s umbilical cord was still attached.
Police spokesperson assistant commissioner Paul Nyathi has told Zim Now that there are now two or three cases of baby dumping each week. Harare and Bulawayo have been recording the most cases.

Earlier in the month the police arrested a Chinhoyi woman after a tip off led them to a dead baby in the woman’s room.

The infant corpse was stashed under stones in a bucket. The mother was suspected of having killed her new born baby.
In yet another chilling incident a couple killed a baby that the woman had from a previous relationship.

Meanwhile police are appealing to anyone with information to identify the mother of the Lobengula West infant to contact their nearest police station.
