Young project leaders honored

Zimbabwe celebrated its rising stars in project management last night, honoring 40 individuals under 40 for their impactful contributions to national development. The Chartered Institute of Project Management Zimbabwe's awards ceremony, themed "Shaping the Future of Project Management," spotlighted the vital role young leaders play in driving innovation and progress across various sectors.

Skills Audit and Development Minister, Professor Paul Mavima, the guest of honor, emphasized the event's alignment with Zimbabwe's Vision 2030, aimed at achieving upper-middle-income status. "These 40 under 40 Young Project Leaders represent a generation of innovators, risk-takers, and trailblazers who are already making significant contributions to Zimbabwe’s growth and prosperity," he stated.

Minister Mavima highlighted the government's commitment to empowering youth and fostering a skilled workforce. He pointed to the Ministry's efforts in aligning training curricula with industry needs, ensuring Zimbabwe's readiness for future socio-economic development. "When I look at the young people in this room, I see skills that are pivotal to the building of a Dubai-like Zimbabwe, a Singapore-like Zimbabwe," he asserted.

The awards recognized project leaders across diverse sectors, including civil engineering, waste management, telecommunications, construction, and information communication technologies. This broad representation underscored the youth's significant impact on Zimbabwe's development landscape.

"This ceremony is not merely about recognizing outstanding achievements, it is about acknowledging the immense potential these young leaders hold for Zimbabwe," Minister Mavima concluded. "Their efforts are a testament to the power of youth and the transformative impact of effective project management."
