Zimbabwe gymnastics teams, boys and girls, got bronze medals at the ongoing African Union Sports Council (AUSC) Region 5 Youth Games in Lilongwe, Malawi, according to the Ministry of Youth, Sport, Arts and Recreation.
On day one of the games, Zimbabwe’s Taekwondo squad got four bronze medals.
AUSC Region 5 Youth Games aim to encourage young sportspersons to develop towards stages where they can in future represent their nations and the whole region as well as enabling young people from different Member States to meet, mix and get to know each other, thereby developing the required community spirit and regional integration.
They also provide opportunities for countries of the region to unite in working on an agreed common sports programme.
