Mbeu Issued Arrest Warrant Over New Year’s Day Car Accident

Afro-fusion artist Ashton “Mbeu” Nyahora is facing legal trouble after a Harare court issued a warrant for his arrest, four months after he was allegedly involved in a car accident on New Year’s Day.

The incident occurred at the intersection of Harare Drive and Borrowdale Road, where Mbeu, who was reportedly driving a Toyota Aqua, collided with a Peugeot 407 driven by Patikayi Murisa. Murisa has accused the musician of negligent driving and failing to take responsibility for the damages caused by the crash.

Murisa said efforts to resolve the matter amicably have been ignored. “Since the accident on January 1, Mbeu has been ignoring my calls. I had hoped, given his public profile, that he would be cooperative, but instead, I’ve been left frustrated,” he said.

He added that Mbeu initially cited illness and referred him to his wife, Faith Mashami. However, Mashami later distanced herself, saying they were no longer living together. In WhatsApp exchanges shared by Murisa, Mashami responded: “May you please contact Mbeu directly, we are no longer staying together.”

In one of the messages, Murisa wrote in a conciliatory tone:
“Makadini, Mai Mbeu? I was a bit tied up and I also had to consider the recovery of your husband before pressuring him for a way forward in our case. I’m willing to meet up on our own or even at the police, whichever way is comfortable for your husband.”

With the matter unresolved for months, Murisa reported the issue to Highlands Police Station, which led to the issuance of the arrest warrant.

In response, Mbeu has acknowledged the delay and expressed willingness to engage. “I know the guy. I’m meeting him on Thursday. We are actually talking,” he said.

The “Mavanga” hit-maker had previously shared a message about surviving the accident, posting on social media:
“On the 1st of January 2025, just a day before my second born’s birthday, I got into a horrible accident and almost lost my life. God gave me another chance… I will rise again and even stronger! Mbeu ndini!”

Murisa, however, remains skeptical. “I no longer trust him. It took the threat of arrest for him to finally respond, and my car has been sitting unrepaired for five months,” he said.
