A two-day Women Empowerment Summit has been launched in Harare by the Minister of Women Affairs ,Community, Small And Medium Enterprises Development, Dr Sithembiso Nyoni
To run between 7-8 December, participants will gather at the Harare International Conference Centre under the theme: “Revitalising Economic Growth Through Women Empowerment.” It will focus on inclusive participation and development.
Speaking at the launch, Minister Nyoni said the summit will be guided by the need to provide a platform for a technical discussion on challenges and opportunities for women in Zimbabwe.
“The summit is a highly participatory and inclusive platform that brings stakeholders together to deliberate on policy and technical issues affecting women’s participation in economic activities.
“Its broad objective is to deliberate on challenges and opportunities affecting women in the country and to recommend interventions to promote the growth of sustainable female-owned businesses,” Dr Nyoni said.
The two-day conference will also have discussions on promoting production and value chain development, promoting standards, compliance and access to regional and international markets.
Government representatives, United Nations agencies, business organisations, Women in Business associations, development partners, civil society and members of the diplomatic corps and the private sector are among those expected to attend.
