Talented mbira player and nyau dance ace Dinnas Kamushinda is set to thrill revellers at the recently-opened Club 101 at Manyame Complex, in Chitungwiza tomorrow night.

Kamushinda, who has one album and three singles under his belt, said he is prepared to give revellers a show of their lives.

“All mbira fans and music lovers will be treated to one of the best shows they have ever attended in the vicinity. The Massive Mbira Ites are geared for the event,” said Kamushinda.

A spokesperson for Club 101 said the joint, which opened its doors to the public in September last year, has always staged live shows on Fridays and they decided on the traditional mbira beat for this week.

“We have always held shows at Club 101, which has grown into a joint of choice for many local and visiting revellers. However, we settled for the traditional mbira beat because of our quest to satisfy our diverse clients’ music tastes, especially on Fridays, which we call ‘Hot Fridays. We also have many special offers on our drinks on these days,’” he told Zim Now.

He added that some of their Friday shows are aimed at supporting talent from around Chitungwiza.

Kamushinda promised to play hits from his 12-track mbira album titled Ndangariro, which carries tunes that have wooed crowds at past live shows. His three singles – Hutano, Chihwerure and Siya Zviripo, which confirm his rising stock as a mbira player – are set to provide variety.

“We are working on an eight-track album which we expect to release at the end of July if everything goes according to plan. The launch date will be announced in due course,” Kamushinda, who also leads the Zambezi Nyau Club, told Zim Now.
