Chiwenga Warns "Tenderpreneurs": "Day of Reckoning is Coming"

Can we put an end to corruption? - Corruption Watch

Vice President Constantino Chiwenga has issued a sharp warning to corrupt business elites, declaring their "day of reckoning is undoubtedly coming" as Zimbabwe intensifies its crackdown on economic sabotage.

Speaking at the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce annual conference, Chiwenga slammed the culture of greed among politically connected "tenderpreneurs" exploiting state contracts for personal gain.

“Money does not fall from the heavens like manna. Real businesses are built through hard work—not shadow deals. Accountability is coming, he warned.

Chiwenga’s address signals a hardening stance against corruption amid growing frustration over inequality and impunity.

"No one is above the law. We will restore faith in our systems," he declared, emphasizing that Zimbabwe’s 2030 economic goals depend on transparency and justice.

But the public waits to see if Chiwenga’s warning translates into prosecutions after watching several politically exposed individuals get away with brazen corruption, milking public funds, and depriving citizens of basic services like healthcare and education.
