Prominent businessman Kudakwashe Tagwirei has stirred debate with a bold declaration during the Second Edition of the Land Tenure Conference held in Bulawayo, where he stated, “If you are not a tenderpreneur, you are foolish.”
Tagwirei made the remarks while responding to questions about longstanding rumours that he has benefited from government-awarded tenders.
Defending his position, Tagwirei argued that doing business with the government is both logical and strategic, given its dominant role in the country’s economy.
“The biggest buyer and seller is the country’s government. If you don’t want to get tenders from the government, where are you going to get the business from?” he said.
The event was attended by several high-profile figures, including Presidential advisor Paul Tungwarara, Youth Minister Tino Machakaire, Scott Sakupwanya, and ICT Minister Tatenda Matevera.
The Land Tenure Conference, aimed at exploring land ownership and reform strategies, is becoming a recurring platform for youth discussinf on Zimbabwe’s economic development. The first edition was held in Masvingo a month earlier, setting the tone for national conversations on land and business dynamics.
