Dynamos FC head coach Saul Chaminuka has been hit with a two-match touchline ban and a substantial fine, while the club itself faces a hefty penalty following the abandonment of their Premier Soccer League (PSL) match against FC Platinum last month. The PSL Disciplinary Committee, in a ruling announced yesterday, found Dynamos FC responsible for the premature end of the June 22 fixture at Mandava Stadium.
The "Glamour Boys" have been slapped with a US$5,000 fine, and FC Platinum has been awarded a 3-0 victory. The more impactful blow for the relegation-threatened side, however, is the personal sanction against Chaminuka. Held directly responsible for his conduct during the ill-fated match, Chaminuka has been fined US$4,000 and, critically, will be barred from the technical bench for Dynamos’ next two crucial fixtures.
This decision leaves Dynamos without their head coach’s direct leadership and strategic input during a pivotal period. The disciplinary action casts a darker shadow over Dynamos’ already precarious position in the league standings. "DeMbare" are currently battling against relegation, sitting in 17th place with a mere 15 points from 21 matches played.
With only 12 games remaining in the season, Chaminuka’s forced absence from the touchline for two matches significantly hinders their desperate fight for survival in the topflight. The team will now have to demonstrate resilience and tactical adaptability to overcome this leadership void as they desperately seek to pull themselves out of the relegation mire.
In a separate but related ruling, Chicken Inn FC and their player, George Majika, also faced disciplinary action. They were found guilty following the abandonment of their match against Scottland FC played at Rufaro Stadium on May 23, 2025. Chicken Inn FC was slapped with a US$5,000 fine, and the match was awarded to Scottland FC on a 3-0 scoreline. George Majika, for his role in the incident, received a US$1,000 fine.
“The PSL reminds all clubs, players, and officials of their obligation to uphold the league’s rules and regulations,” read a stern statement from the PSL. “Any actions that disrupt fixtures, undermine the integrity of the competition, or bring the game into disrepute will not be tolerated.”
