Government on Tuesday held the second stakeholder consultative workshop on the Zimbabwe National Industrial Development Policy 2 (2026–2030) in Harare, as it seeks inclusive input toward formulating a comprehensive national strategy for industrial growth.
The meeting, held at Golden Conifer, was attended by senior Government officials, industry leaders, economists, researchers, development partners, and private sector representatives.
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, Dr. Thomas Utete Wushe, said the policy will build on the gains of the Zimbabwe Industrialisation and Regional Growth Programme and local content strategies.
“ZNIDP2 is a national blueprint that must be shaped by all sectors and all regions. Its success hinges on a shared commitment,” said Dr. Wushe.
“We are placing strong emphasis on value addition, rural industrialisation, fair trade, and strengthening the Buy Zimbabwe campaign.”
Dr. Wushe said the policy must align with other national priorities and economic plans.
“We aim to ensure ZNIDP2 aligns with the objectives of the National Development Strategy and our long-term national development vision,” he said.
He called for practical, inclusive contributions from stakeholders, which he said would shape an “actionable and transformative agenda.”
Stakeholders at the workshop were invited to provide technical and sector-specific proposals to help formulate a policy that promotes competitiveness, boosts local production, and creates jobs.
The consultative process is expected to culminate in the finalisation of ZNIDP2 by early 2026.
