Dynamos’ fight for survival gained crucial momentum on Saturday as they secured a commanding 3-0 victory over fellow relegation contenders, Kwekwe United, at Ascot Stadium. The win, their second consecutive in the league, marked a significant milestone for the Harare giants, who are battling to avoid an unprecedented drop to the lower division.

Goals from Jairos Kasondo and Wisdom Mutasa in the first half set the tone, with Ransom Chingwara sealing the victory with a late goal. This was the first time this season that Dynamos has scored three goals in a single match, showcasing a newfound attacking prowess that has coincided with a string of positive results. The team's recent form includes two Chibuku Super Cup wins in addition to their back-to-back league victories.

Despite the maximum points, Dynamos remains in 17th position on the table with 22 points, but the mood in the camp is one of growing optimism. Head coach Kelvin Kaindu attributes the turnaround to a quick bond he has formed with the players since his arrival.

"They accepted me very quickly and that has paid off. We needed this win," Kaindu said after the match. "We played well and scored some good goals. Especially the third goal, we did well from the build-up until we got the goal. The team is good and everyone is in the mood to win. It gives us a bit of confidence and belief."

The coach emphasized the importance of staying grounded, acknowledging the challenges ahead. "What is important is for us to keep the players grounded. These games are not easy. We are doing well to overcome the challenges. Right now, focus is on the next games," he added. Kaindu also commended Kwekwe United's resilience, noting their second-half fight, but highlighted his team's visible improvements and their progress in the right direction.

Kwekwe United's coach, Masimba Dinyero, conceded that his side had lost a crucial "relegation battle." He attributed the defeat to "simple goals which are avoidable," and saw the loss as a "good wake-up call" for his young squad. Dinyero believes Dynamos can still survive, estimating they need to win at least five of their remaining games to secure safety.
