The Ministry of Finance and the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (ZIMRA) have rolled out a six-month nationwide Tax Education Campaign aimed at raising awareness on the importance of tax compliance and how revenue contributes to national development.

Running under the theme “My Tax Works: See the Change in Your Community,” the campaign was launched this week and is currently underway in Marondera, Mashonaland East, where residents are being sensitised on the role of taxes in funding public services.

Officials said the initiative is designed to highlight how revenue from income tax, corporate tax, value-added tax and customs duties supports the construction of hospitals, clinics, schools, roads, dams and other social services.

“Taxes are more than payments. They are investments in our future,” the Ministry said in a statement, stressing that community engagement is key to promoting transparency, accountability and inclusive participation in national development.

ZIMRA teams will visit all provinces over the next six months to ensure citizens better understand their tax obligations and the impact of their contributions.
