Driver veers off road, kills two pedestrians

Two pedestrians were killed and another left critically injured after a motorist driving a Subaru Forester veered off the road and struck them along Nketa Drive in Bulawayo on 30 August 2025.

The accident occurred at 1917 hours when the driver lost control of the vehicle, left the roadway, and rammed into three people standing on the roadside. After hitting the pedestrians, the Subaru sideswiped a Honda Fit that was travelling in the opposite direction.

Police said two pedestrians died instantly, while the third was rushed to United Bulawayo Hospitals for urgent treatment. The deceased were taken to UBH for postmortem.

The Zimbabwe Republic Police has launched an investigation, warning motorists against reckless driving in residential areas and urging them to always remain in full control of their vehicles.
