According to the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the first phase of construction has been completed, paving the way for operations that will add value to pine and unlock downstream value chains. The plant is expected to generate significant export earnings while creating jobs for local communities.
“This initiative is a milestone in our rural industrialisation agenda. It will not only stimulate economic activity in the province but also drive inclusive growth and open opportunities for surrounding communities,” the ministry said in a statement.
The project aligns with the government’s value-addition drive under the National Development Strategy 1, which prioritises investment in rural industries to reduce inequality between urban and rural economies.
