Zim Named New Home for Intra-African Trade Fair Headquarters

Harare has been selected as the permanent headquarters for the Intra-African Trade Fair marking a major milestone for Zimbabwe as a continental hub for trade and investment.

The announcement was made by Professor Benedict Oramah, outgoing president and chairman of the African Export-Import Bank, during his opening remarks at the 2025 IATF currently underway in the city.

Organised by Afreximbank, the African Union Commission, and the African Continental Free Trade Area  Secretariat, the IATF serves as Africa’s premier platform for promoting trade, investment, and industrial growth.

The fair enables businesses to exchange information, showcase goods and services, connect with potential partners, and explore practical solutions to challenges facing intra-African trade.

The fair also attracts global investors looking to expand into African markets and support the continent’s industrialisation and export growth.

Prof Oramah explained that after nearly eight years of support from Afreximbank and its partners, it was time to institutionalise the IATF and create a sustainable, independent entity.

He confirmed that the IATF Advisory Council had approved Zimbabwe’s bid, praising the government for presenting a strong proposal.

“I congratulate the government of Zimbabwe for their outstanding bid and look forward to their collaboration with the Advisory Council to establish the IATF as a sustainable organisation in Harare,” Prof Oramah said.
