Zimbabwe is expected to face another unpredictable rainy season, with a delayed and erratic start anticipated, particularly in the northern provinces.

The southern and western regions, however, may receive normal to above-normal rains early in the season, with prospects for nationwide improvement from December onwards.

Minister of Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Dr. Jenfan Muswere, announced this during a post-Cabinet press briefing, citing the Meteorological Services Department's seasonal rainfall forecast.

"The nation is advised that the forthcoming rainfall season will be largely similar to the 2024–2025 season," Dr. Muswere said.

According to the forecast, the northern provinces are likely to experience dry conditions in October and November, while the southern and western regions may receive normal to above-normal rains at the start of the season.

Although rainfall prospects are expected to improve nationwide from December, northern areas may dry out again later in the season.

The government has urged farmers and communities to adopt proactive risk management strategies. Dryland farmers are advised to delay planting to reduce potential losses, while robust water conservation measures are recommended.

Communities are also encouraged to prepare for both dry spells and extreme weather events such as floods.

The Meteorological Services Department will continue to monitor seasonal climate indicators and provide updates.

Predictions will be revised monthly, with daily weather forecasts and 10-day bulletins issued to keep the nation informed.
