
A daring theft syndicate targeting high-profile individuals has landed in the Harare Magistrates’ Court, with Prosper Dexter Muderede ,36, facing charges for his alleged involvement in a series of luxury item heists.
Muderede, of Chitungwiza, appeared in court on theft charges.
One of the complainants, Nyasha Chikwinya, a Member of Parliament, had parked her Toyota GD6 at Ashbrittle Shopping Centre in Harare on October 3, 2025.
While she was buying food at Chicken Inn, Muderede and his accomplices allegedly unlocked her vehicle and stole a laptop bag containing a Z Fold cellphone, a Samsung A05, and US$420 in cash.

The stolen items were valued at US$2,800, and detectives later recovered the Samsung Z Fold and the Samsung A05, worth a combined US$2,380.
Muderede’s accomplices — Tinashe Hombarume, Pride Dadiso Mandeya, Sithembile Tanyaradzwa Hlasela, and Skumbuzi Mboneli — are currently on remand.
In a separate incident, the gang allegedly smashed the window of a Toyota Prado belonging to Deputy Minister of Youth, Kudakwashe Mupamhanga, on October 7, 2025.
They reportedly stole an iPad, headphones, sunglasses, a Huawei Pro 7, a Samsung Z Fold, and a wallet containing important documents.
The stolen property was later recovered, along with a black Honda vehicle used in the getaway, which was registered in Pride Dadiso Mandeya’s name.
Muderede is expected to appear in court again tomorrow.
