A 35-year-old Avondale car dealer has appeared in court accused of stealing a Mercedes Benz A180 that had been left as surety for a US$2 500 loan.
Hillary Muchipisi was charged with motor vehicle theft when he appeared before magistrate Marehwanazvo Gofa, who advised him to apply for bail at the High Court.
The complainant is Makomborero Chinyanganya.
The court heard that on July 23, 2025, Chinyanganya, accompanied by a colleague, visited Guess Evolution Carsale at No. 8 Cleveland Road, Milton Park, Harare.
He sought to borrow US$2 500 from the company’s director, Felix Chanetsa.
As part of the loan agreement, Chinyanganya left his Mercedes Benz A180 as collateral, promising to repay the amount.
