Fugitive murder suspect Peter Dube has been found guilty on two counts of murder and two counts of attempted murder by the Bulawayo High Court following a high-profile trial that concluded this week.
His sentencing is scheduled for November 26, 2025.
Dube was convicted for the fatal shootings of Shelton Chiduku and Gamuchirai Madungwe, as well as the attempted murders of sisters Nyasha and Nyaradzo Nharingo, during a violent domestic incident on April 22, 2021, in Gweru’s Central Business District.
The court heard that on the day in question, Dube returned home to find that his second wife, Nyasha Nharingo, was not at their apartment. She later arrived with Chiduku and Madungwe, along with her sister Nyaradzo.
When Nyasha attempted to enter the apartment, Dube locked her out and refused to let anyone in. She called Dube’s brother, who intervened, prompting Dube to finally open the door.

An argument ensued, during which Nyasha and Nyaradzo began packing their belongings, threatening to leave him. Enraged, Dube retrieved a firearm and went outside, where Chiduku and Madungwe were seated in a vehicle. He shot both men at close range, killing them on the spot.
Dube then returned to the apartment and shot both Nyasha and Nyaradzo before fleeing the scene. Miraculously, the sisters survived the attack and later testified in court.
After evading authorities for years, Dube was finally apprehended and brought to trial.
He pleaded not guilty to all charges, claiming he was mentally unstable at the time of the offences. The court, however, rejected his defence after witness and medical evidence proved otherwise.
Justice will be delivered in full when Dube returns to court for sentencing next week.
