Eagles secured a solid five-wicket win over Mountaineers in their Pro50 Championship match at Harare Sports Club on Wednesday, chasing down the target with 17.2 overs to spare.
Mountaineers, sent in to bat first, were dismissed for 166 in 39.5 overs after a collapse triggered by Eagles’ disciplined bowling attack. Only three Mountaineers batters reached double figures, with Timycen Maruma top-scoring with 60 off 85 balls and captain Wellington Masakadza adding 43.
The pair shared a 99-run stand for the fifth wicket to lift their team from 46 for four, but the innings fell apart immediately after Masakadza was bowled by Wessly Madhevere. From 150 for five, Mountaineers lost their remaining wickets for just 21 runs.
Faraz Akram led the damage with excellent figures of 4 for 27, while Kundai Matigimu took 2 for 11 and Marshal Takodza claimed 1 for 0.
