Alpha Media Holdings workers today downed tools, citing poor remuneration.
AMH runs a daily paper, the Newsday and two weeklies, the The Standard and Zimbabwe Independent, and an Online TV station, Heart & Soul.
Reporters who spoke to Zim Now on condition of anonymity said that no one turned up for work to run stories which are supposed to be published in the Newsday tomorrow.
“We have decided not to go to work today. The company owes us, just imagine the salary is too little but it does not come on time,” said one of the employees.
Another one added that they celebrated Christmas on empty stomachs.
“We did not celebrate Christmas like others were doing, we could not spoil our families and up to now, it is back to school and the company is reluctant to pay us,” added another employee.
Recently, the company retrenched some of its staff.
