A Buhera man was last week slapped with a 15-month jail term by magistrate Poterai Gwezhira for scalding her neighbour with hot water on the face after his goats had destroyed her crops.
Ruth Vurudzai, 45, of Mapingure Village under Headman Betera in Buhera scalded Aaron Musadza, who sustained injuries on the face, neck and back.
She pleaded guilty to contravening Section 89 (1) (a) of the Criminal Codification and Reform Act and was sentenced to 15 months in prison of which 10 were suspended on condition of good behaviour.
The incident happened on December 2, 2022 at around 6pm.
Musadza went to Vurudzai’s homestead to see the damage done by his goats which had strayed into her yard and destroyed crops, the court heard.
Vurudzai scolded Musadza and labelled him a witch who had intentionally let his goats graze in her field before taking hot water and pouring it on Musadza’s face, neck and back.
