The Zimbabwe Youth Action Platform has said the public should give time while the appropriate governance structures continue to scrutinise the delimitation issue thoroughly.
This follows the outcry around the delimitation report recently tabled before the Parliamentary Adhoc Committee by the Zimbabwe Electo
ral Commission.
It also comes after ZYAP president, Tonderai Chidawa has reportedly gone missing over opposing the delimitation report.
“With regards to the reports of kidnappings, vilification, arrests, harassment and torture by the state security services sector on antagonists, the likes of our president Chidawa.
“We would urge the general citizenry not to panic or overreact and rather wait for a statement or position from the responsible State security public relations office with regards to these allegations as well as a statement from Mr Chidawa himself, when he is found.
“Though these groupings and individuals alike are practising their rights under the protection of their enshrined constitutional privileges finally guarded by the second republic, we urge them all to be calm.”
ZYAP said it is possible that some individuals could have attacked Chidawa, impersonating State security agents or the opposite could also stand.
“To the ZYAP family and support base, we would want to assure you without a bit of doubt that Mr Chidawa, will be well and fine.
“We have activated our network to search for him and the information we have since received is positive. We will be in touch once we have a solid position and location,” ZYAP added.
ZYAP has condemned the proposed delimitation process by ZEC, citing the exclusion of youths in the process.
