
A 32-year-old Chitungwiza man, Tinotenda Zambara, has appeared before the Harare Magistrates’ Court facing charges of murder and attempted murder after he allegedly fatally stabbed a man with a screwdriver during a drinking spree at a barber shop.
According to the State, the incident occurred on September 14, 2025, at around 9:30pm at a barber shop at Mashade Shopping Centre in Stoneridge Park, Harare, where Zambara was drinking beer with his friend, Petros Huda.
While the two were socialising, the now-deceased entered the shop accompanied by his uncle. The pair reportedly began chatting with Huda, which allegedly irritated Zambara, who accused them of making noise.
An altercation ensued, escalating into a fistfight.

During the scuffle, Zambara allegedly picked up a screwdriver from the barber shop and stabbed the deceased on the left side of the head.
The victim sustained a deep wound and was rushed to Sally Mugabe Central Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
A post-mortem conducted on September 19 revealed that the cause of death was subdural haemorrhage and a penetrating head injury.
Zambara remains in custody as investigations continue.
He is expected to return to court for further proceedings.
