Olinda Chapel Foundation Shuts Down

Philanthropic organisation Olinda Chapel Foundation has ceased operations, its founder Olinda Chapel announced, citing personal hardship and the need to prioritise her children.

In a statement, Chapel said the decision was made “with a very heavy heart,” bringing to an end years of privately funded community work that included feeding the homeless, paying school fees, supporting funerals, offering free nurse aide training, assisting people living with HIV/AIDS, advocating against domestic violence, and helping families during the COVID-19 pandemic.

She said the foundation’s activities were financed from her own earnings, often at personal sacrifice, and included supporting thousands of homeless children, some of whom were reunited with their families.

“From today’s date I need to look out for me and my children only,” Chapel said, adding that the foundation’s closure follows significant personal strain, including challenges affecting her daughter.
