The ZANU PF Youth League has launched a blistering critique against Presidential Investment Advisor Paul Tungwarara, calling for his immediate enrollment at the Herbert Chitepo School of Ideology following a controversial rally in Nyanga that has sparked a firestorm within the ruling party’s provincial structures.
The businessman, who serves as a Special Advisor on Investment for the United Arab Emirates (UAE), stands accused of departing from his international mandate to sow seeds of "confusion and disruption" within the party's grassroots. In a series of sharp rebukes from party commissars and youth leaders, Tungwarara’s recent behavior was described as a calculated attempt to harvest internal power and facilitate "name-dropping" in the UAE by appearing to hold significant sway over domestic party politics.
"As a party currently in recruitment mode, the presence of middlemen pursuing personal agendas is toxic to our unity," a senior Youth League official stated. "Mr. Tungwarara was appointed to bring investment from the UAE. Manicaland is not part of the UAE, yet he is here attempting to wield political influence. It appears that having lost the trust of genuine investors, he is now rushing to solidify his standing through disruptive internal maneuvers."

The League expressed deep concern over Tungwarara’s public claims regarding the "neutralization" of expelled former Central Committee member Blessed Geza. Geza, who was dismissed from the party in early 2025 for his vocal opposition to President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s leadership, has been a thorn in the side of party discipline. However, Tungwarara’s claim to have single-handedly silenced Geza has been dismissed by party insiders as "clout farming" and "Selous Scout-style operations."
"To claim he mastered and neutralized Blessed Geza implies he was once part of Geza’s circle and simply waited for a convenient time to tell him to stop," a commissar noted. "This is not how the party operates. It is a purely deceptive mode of operation designed to make himself look indispensable to the Presidency at the expense of the truth."
In a formal set of recommendations, the Youth League has proposed a "Repair Rally" in Nyanga to address the confusion among loyal members who voted for ZANU PF in 2023. They argue that Tungwarara’s interference has blurred the lines of authority, making it difficult for established politicians to engage with him without feeling as though they are inadvertently challenging President Mnangagwa.
The League further demanded that Tungwarara relinquish his title as Presidential Advisor if he wishes to pursue a political career, ensuring that his personal ambitions do not compromise the dignity of the Second Republic's empowerment programs. The Chitepo School of Ideology, the party’s premier institution for political orientation, is seen as the only way to correct what the Youth League describes as his "ideological bankruptcy."
"We have been part of the President’s and the First Lady’s empowerment programs, which are dignified, unifying, and transparent," the League's statement concluded. "We will not allow a middleman to hijack that legacy for personal gain. He must go to the school of ideology and learn what it truly means to serve the party."
