Zimbabwe struggle as England dominate Group C at U19 World Cup

Zimbabwe’s Under-19 team have endured a difficult start to their ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup 2026 campaign, finding themselves at the bottom of Group C after two matches, as England powered through to qualification with dominant performances.

Playing in home conditions, Zimbabwe have managed just one point from their opening two games, with a net run rate of -3.304 highlighting the scale of their struggles. Despite moments of promise, the hosts have been unable to sustain competitive performances against stronger opposition, leaving their hopes of progression hanging by a thread.

In contrast, England have stamped their authority on the group, winning both of their matches to sit comfortably at the top with four points and an impressive net run rate of +1.552. Their all-round strength has seen them qualify early for the next stage, reinforcing their reputation as one of the tournament’s leading contenders.

Pakistan remain in second place with two points from two matches, having recorded one win and one loss. While their net run rate is slightly negative at -0.063, they are still well placed to secure qualification, provided they avoid slip-ups in their remaining fixture.

Scotland are third with one point and a net run rate of -0.662, level on points with Zimbabwe but ahead on run rate. Both teams now face an uphill task and must produce strong performances in their remaining games if they are to keep any realistic hopes alive.
