
The Civil Aviation Authority of Zimbabwe has appointed Dr Eng Tamara Stevenson as a member of its Board of Directors, strengthening the authority’s leadership with extensive engineering and governance expertise.
In a statement, CAAZ said its management and staff were “pleased to welcome Dr Eng Tamara M. Stevenson who was recently appointed to the CAAZ Board of Directors as a Board Member.”
Dr Eng Stevenson is a professional mechanical engineer and a Fellow of the Engineering Council of Zimbabwe, with more than 20 years’ experience in project management, infrastructure development and corporate leadership.
She currently serves as Deputy President of the Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers, where she is actively involved in promoting STEM education, gender equality and international collaboration.
CAAZ highlighted her previous leadership roles, noting that she played a key part in major infrastructure and governance reforms.
“As past Board Chairperson of CMED, she spearheaded the transformation of the entity into a key player in road rehabilitation and infrastructure projects, stabilised the Construction Unit, and championed the adoption of electric vehicles in Zimbabwe,” the authority said.

The aviation regulator added that Dr Eng Stevenson demonstrated strong corporate leadership by “leading the team in strengthening corporate governance and improving financial accountability.”
Academically, Dr Eng Stevenson holds a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Project Management and a Master of Engineering degree in Manufacturing Systems and Operations Management, in addition to several professional qualifications in business leadership.
CAAZ also recognised her contribution to gender equity in engineering, saying she “has been awarded multiple accolades which recognise her outstanding contributions as a trailblazer committed to empowering women in engineering, breaking barriers in male-dominated fields, and mentoring future leaders through resilience, servant leadership and innovation.”
The authority said her experience and expertise will play a critical role in board oversight.
“Her vast knowledge and expertise as a corporate leader and technocrat will be a valuable cog in the Board’s oversight role of the Authority,” CAAZ said.
Dr Eng Stevenson will also serve as Chairperson of the Risk Management Committee, a key governance role within the board structure.
CAAZ welcomed her appointment, saying: “Welcome to the team, Dr Eng Stevenson.”
