Sikandar Heads Back To England

Zimbabwe’s white-ball talisman Sikandar Raza is heading back to England after signing with Worcestershire County Cricket Club for the full 2026 Vitality Blast campaign.

“I am delighted to be joining Worcestershire Rapids this summer and to be playing in a T20 competition that I really enjoy,” Raza said. “I have loved my time in England whenever I have played there previously, so I can’t wait to get started and link up with the squad.”

The 39-year-old all-rounder, who captains Zimbabwe in the T20 format, brings with him a suitcase full of global experience and a bat that rarely travels quietly.

Raza has earned 127 T20 international caps for Zimbabwe and built a reputation as one of the most adaptable all-rounders in the shortest format. His career highlights include:

  • A T20 high score of 133 not out
  • Over 230 wickets across domestic and international competitions
  • Appearances in top leagues including the IPL, CPL, PSL, SA20 and ILT20
  • A stint with Manchester Originals in The Hundred

In 2024, he scored more than 200 runs in the Vitality Blast for Northamptonshire Steelbacks, underlining his comfort in English conditions.

He was also named Most Valuable Player in the 2024 ILT20 and played a decisive role in the 2025 final, smashing 34 not out from just 12 balls to help Dubai Capitals lift their maiden title.

Worcestershire head coach Alan Richardson described Raza as a strategic addition.

“Sikandar’s stats in T20 cricket speak for themselves,” he said. “As a side that wants to challenge for the trophy, we know the importance of having real quality in key areas. We were keen to get him on board as soon as he became available.”

CEO Ashley Giles added that Raza’s dual threat with bat and ball makes him “one of the most exciting all-rounders in limited overs cricket.”

For Zimbabwean cricket fans, Raza’s signing is another signal that Zimbabwe’s top talent continues to command global respect.
