PE Lions Roar Nationwide as Academy Talent Secures Top Transfers

 

PE Lions Football Academy continues to make a strong mark on Zimbabwean football, with a wave of player transfers in 2026 highlighting its growing influence across the country. 

This progress builds on earlier successes at the end of the 2024 season and into 2025, when several academy players began making significant career moves.

During the 2024–2025 transfer window, Farai Tsinakwadi secured a move to Scottland and is currently with Chicken Inn. Mafios Chihweta moved from Ajax Hotspurs FC to Highlanders FC and is now at Scottland FC.

 Munashe Genesis joined Zebra Revolution FC and has since progressed to Kwekwe United FC, while Abraham Nyika also moved to Zebra Revolution FC and is now at Ali Sundowns FC. Blessed Maposa transferred to Ajax Hotspurs FC and is currently part of Ngezi Platinum Stars FC U19. 

Langton Chidukumire joined Zebra Revolution FC before relocating to South Africa, where he has since stepped away from football.

Despite being a relatively small setup, the academy has successfully placed players across the Northern, Southern and Central Region Division One leagues, as well as in the Premier League.

In the 2026 transfer window, the academy facilitated several moves in the Northern Region Division One. Tariso Ignatius Muzvowa joined CP Chemicals, Panashe Samupindi moved to G&T, and Idaneki Matsiwe signed for Chingwere FC. One of the standout transfers saw Junior Banisi secure a move to CAPS United, where he is believed to have signed a three-year contract—marking a major milestone for both the player and the academy.

The academy’s presence is also being felt in the Southern Region Division One, where Blessed Zvinodavanhu completed a 2026 move to Zebra Revolution FC. In the Central Region Division One, Brighton Mumharu joined MSU during the same transfer period, further extending the academy’s reach.

At the top level, Ngonidzashe Chingoka made a significant step up in 2026 after joining newly promoted Hunters FC in the Premier League, underlining the academy’s ability to produce players ready for elite competition.

Head coach Edward Taruvinga expressed pride in the academy’s achievements during the 2026 transfer period.

“We are a small academy, but we have a big vision,” he said. “Seeing our players spread across all regions and even into the Premier League this year shows the progress we are making. It’s proof that our work is paying off.”

He also emphasised the academy’s long-term mission.

“We focus on developing disciplined, hardworking players who are ready for the next level. These 2026 moves are not the end goal; they are stepping stones. We believe even bigger opportunities are coming.”

With a nationwide footprint established through early player movements at the end of 2024 and widespread transfers in 2026, PE Lions Football Academy is emerging as one of Zimbabwe’s most promising football development institutions.
