Govt, Partners Push Stronger Child Protection Agenda for 2026

 

The Government otogether with social partners, convened the first quarter Child Rights Committee meeting in Harare as authorities move to strengthen child protection systems and align interventions with national development priorities.

In a statement, the Ministry of Public Service, Labour and Social Welfare said the meeting “underscores our shared commitment to candidly assess the real challenges facing children and to craft bold strategies for 2026 that align seamlessly with the National Development Strategy 2 priorities on child protection.”

Officials said the platform brought together stakeholders to address vulnerabilities affecting children while advancing coordinated responses across communities and institutions.

“From tackling vulnerabilities to empowering communities, we stand united in ensuring that every child in Zimbabwe is safe, nurtured and given the opportunity to thrive,” the Ministry added.

The government emphasised that child welfare remains central to national development, noting that “our collective effort is anchored in the belief that child rights are not negotiable; they are the foundation of a brighter, more inclusive future.”

Authorities also highlighted the need for stronger systems and partnerships, adding, “together, we can strengthen systems, mobilise resources and foster partnerships that safeguard children’s well-being,” while reaffirming that “the protection, participation and empowerment of every child remain at the heart of Zimbabwe’s development agenda.”
