The Zimbabwe Junior Golf Open continues to grow in stature, with this year’s edition set to attract 93 young golfers from 11 countries, as the tournament cements its place as one of the region’s key platforms for junior golf development.
The tournament, which marks five years since inception, will be held at Borrowdale Brooke Golf Estate from April 24 to 26, reflecting its expanding regional reach and increasing influence in nurturing young talent.
First Capital Bank Limited Chief Executive Officer, Tapiwa Mushosho, said the financial institution remains committed to supporting youth development through sport, noting that the tournament has become a vital pathway for aspiring golfers.
“In 2022, we were the first to believe and we remain the first to back the golfing youth,” said Mr Mushosho.
“‘Belief in Every Swing’ reflects our commitment to going beyond banking to investing in people, creating opportunity, and supporting the development of future leaders. The discipline, resilience, and focus required in golf are the same qualities that shape success in life and in business.”

Since its establishment, the tournament has grown into a recognised platform, earning world amateur golf ranking status and providing opportunities for young golfers to compete on the international stage.
The continued growth of the event has also seen the introduction of a Junior Pro-Am development initiative, which is expected to enhance grassroots participation and provide mentorship opportunities for emerging players.
Organisers said the initiative is designed to broaden access to the sport, particularly among young golfers, while strengthening the development pathway within the country.
Over the years, the Zimbabwe Junior Golf Open has evolved into more than just a sporting event, becoming a structured platform that promotes talent identification, skills development and regional integration.
Mushosho said the bank’s involvement is anchored on empowering young people and creating opportunities that extend beyond the golf course.
“Through this platform, the Bank is actively contributing to youth empowerment and skills development, as well as inclusive access to sport and opportunity,” he said.
