
The Zimbabwe Korfball Federation successfully hosted the Korfball Awareness Tournament at Gwinyiro Primary School in Mufakose on Saturday, bringing together athletes, coaches, partners and community stakeholders in a celebration of the sport's growing footprint in Zimbabwe.
The tournament featured competitive action in both the senior and under-19 categories. Mufakose Blazers were crowned champions in the Senior Category, followed by Harare Tigers in second place and DZ Eagles in third.
In the Under-19 division, Mufakose Wolves secured first place, with DZ High 1 finishing second and Queen Elizabeth/Allan Wilson taking third position.
ZKF President Tarirai Chadebah commended the success of the event and praised the collective efforts of all stakeholders involved.
"This tournament reflects the continued growth of korfball in Zimbabwe and the power of sport to bring communities together. We are grateful to our partners, supporters, coaches, athletes and volunteers whose commitment made this awareness initiative a success. Together, we are creating opportunities for participation, inclusion and community development through sport," said Chadebah.

Special appreciation was extended to partners including ZimNow, Shamwari YeMwanasikana, Devine International Travel, media partners and community stakeholders. Shamwari YeMwanasikana's participation added significant value through its work in child protection and youth empowerment, reinforcing the importance of creating safe and supportive environments for young people.
Harare Tigers coach Tonderai Kisimusi expressed pride in his team's performance after securing second place.
"I am very proud of my team for finishing in second position. They fought hard throughout the tournament. Congratulations to the players who were selected for the Malawi tournament. I also thank ZKF and its partners for giving players an opportunity to showcase their talents," he said.
Mufakose Blazers head coach Edwin Daimon celebrated his team's triumph following an impressive campaign.
"I am very happy today. We won almost all our games, and I thank the athletes for lifting the name of our club high. Their dedication and teamwork made this victory possible," said Daimon.
The tournament formed part of ZKF's ongoing efforts to raise awareness of korfball, promote youth participation and strengthen community engagement through sport as the federation continues to expand the game's reach across Zimbabwe.
