The Zimbabwe Korfball Federation (ZKF) is stepping up preparations for the 2026 Africa Korfball Championships, with the national senior and Under-19 teams set to represent the country in Malawi from September 18 to 20.
The championships will provide Zimbabwe with an opportunity to compete against some of the continent’s leading korfball nations while giving the Under-19 players valuable exposure at international level.
Zimbabwe has previously enjoyed success on the continental stage, winning the African Championship in 2022, and the senior side will be looking to build on that experience when they take to the court in Malawi.
For the Under-19 team, the tournament will mark an important step in the development of young players as they gain experience competing at a higher level.

Preparations have, however, not been without challenges, with financial constraints forcing the national teams to miss the planned training camp. Despite the setback, the federation remains focused on making the most of the remaining preparation period ahead of the championships.
ZKF Secretary-General Angeline Kashangura said preparations were progressing despite the financial challenges facing the federation.
“Preparations are going well, but we are facing some financial challenges, which have affected some of our programmes, including the training camp. We remain focused on preparing the teams and ensuring that they are ready to represent Zimbabwe,” Kashangura said.
The federation has continued its efforts to develop and promote korfball through domestic competitions and talent development programmes, providing players with opportunities to gain competitive experience ahead of international assignments.
The senior and Under-19 teams are expected to depart for Malawi ahead of the championships, where they will compete against teams from across Africa.
